Online Community Resources

Since 2015, OTL Connect has served as an online teaching and learning community for instructors here at the University at Albany. This online community offers opportunities to come together both face-to-face and online to share ideas, discuss questions, and explore practices. The site utilized to share resources in Blackboard will now reside here on this public webpage.

Joining the Online Community Listserv

Announcements of upcoming events and news will now come from the listserv instead of Blackboard, so please be sure to join the listserv to receive those messages.  The listserv is also another way to reach out to one another for collegial support; just post your question and colleagues across the university can offer suggestions and feedback. Join the OTLConnect list-serv today! Then, post any time by emailing OTLCONNECT@LISTSERV.ALBANY.EDU.

Understanding Important Matters in Online Education

Instructors and course developers need to be aware of several important matters in online education. These include matters relate to copyright, accessibility, and interaction.  While there are legal aspects to these matters, their role in effective instruction is mission critical.

Learning about Campus Technologies and the Primary Learning Management System

Online education relies on a variety of technologies for implementation.  Most of the technology needed is bundled into a Learning Management System such as Blackboard, but it will also be necessary to utilize web conferencing software, video hosting software, and other technological tools designed to support specific functional objectives for teaching online.
