Instructional Leadership Academies
During each intersession, ITLAL offers Instructional Leadership Academies, which are opportunities for more intensive engagement with course design and/or specific teaching methods and strategies. These typically involve a commitment of at least two full days of workshops plus one-on-one consultations tied to development and design of a targeted course.
More Rigor and More Fun with Team-Based Learning
This Academy guides participants through the process of designing a course that integrates a set of practices guided by the Michaelsen Team-Based Learning (TBL) method. In addition to a two-day interactive and immersive workshop, participants receive on-going consultative support as they implement TBL. This Academy is regularly offered in January and August. Check our current workshop schedule for upcoming Academies.
Course Design for Deeper and More Lasting Student Learning
This Academy offers instructors the opportunity to (re-)conceptualize a course that will lead to better learning outcomes for students without “dumbing it down.” The two-day workshops focuses on helping instructors create more challenging encounters with disciplinary thinking as part of a thoughtfully and deliberately designed course. In addition to a two-day interactive workshop, participants receive on-going consultative support as they implement their new designs. This Academy is regularly offered in January and June. Check our current workshop schedule for upcoming Academies.
